Cornish’s
Duncan’s Desk

With less than a week to go till we have a visit from a fella in a red coat (no not a Case IH sales guy/gal) it seems like time simply flies by these days. Harvest is still in the process of getting through in some districts, however the biggest proportion is in the bag (some literally) we hear varied reports on quality and quantity, and with the variation in prices we still have no clear indication of exactly how good the result will be. That said our forward order bank on new headers & tractors is excellent as we move in to the New Year - better I am told than in most seasons for most of the past 5/6 years.

Cornish's staff head to USA

Testimony to the hard work and dedication of some team members is the announcement by Case IH that two of our senior sales managers are to travel to the USA in January 09 to a special training programme on Axial Flow, Steiger and Magnum - Jason Wood; Gunnedah and Darryl Henley; Condobolin are the recipients of this award, and I wish them safe travelling.

Next Year

2009 will indeed be an interesting year for our business, planning is already underway to bring forward next seasons pre-harvest check / repairs on headers, this is needed to allow for new and used deliveries to happen as smoothly as possible, our customers will be notified of a programme in early 09 which will include early bird discounts. Further Header schooling is something which we are also looking at for 09, this not only will include our own staff in service and sales but also owners and operators, revision on existing machines to ensure that we get the maximum out of them - not that too many of you don't already maximize the outputs!

Specials & Staff

Keep checking up on our web pages for news items and special offers, as well as opportunities to come and meet our teams at various events during the coming year. As I write we are about to announce the appointment of a Financial Controller as well as a sales person for our Quirindi branch, we have ad's being placed for apprentice's, parts people and mechanics, with Condobolin having two interviews planned for next week - so a finish to 08 with some key staff coming on board for a start in the New Year - this is very encouraging for our business and good news for our customers.

Your comments

I am very interested in hearing or reading your comments on Cornish's in particular how we can improve our service level overall to your business, your comments are welcome either by phone, e mail or I am keen to come and meet you on your own property (one client near Parkes has suggested a good opening item for any meeting will be to bring Double Choc Tim Tams to his farm!) so please get in touch I will arrange the Tim Tams and a time!.

Jane and I will probably spend Christmas in Queensland, we are trying to sell a home there, garden has probably been left unchecked for two months, so a good crop of grass will have to be attended to, as well as a jungle of other unmentionables around the property. We do hope that you have a Very Merry Christmas and the 2009 allows us all to Prosper - I look forward to meeting you at sometime during the year.

Thank you for reading these ramblings
